Sports Program
The official sports program for each Gay Games is set at a maximum of 28
sports. Currently, the Federation of Gay Games determines 20 of those sports
(Core Sports) and the host city for each Gay Games may choose an additional 8
sports (Additional Sports), bringing the total to 28 sports. In determining
the Additional Sports for their particular Gay Games sports program, the Host
City must consider factors such as popularity in their particular city/area
of the world, international interest and participation, and budget
restrictions.

Planning and Participation
The Core and Additional sports in the Federation's sports program represent
the efforts of LGBT sport organizations that have formed over the years,
organized and promoted events in their particular sport and have worked with
the Federation of Gay Games in lending their assistance and expertise in
their sport on national and international levels.

If you want to apply for the official position of a Gay Games Sports Coordinator (for a specific sport),
read the job description and apply: Sports Coordinator Job Description/Application.
If you are interested in understanding how a sport gets included in the Gay Games, the Inclusion and Retention Policy
has been in the works now for years, and will finally be adopted November 2004 at the Cologne annual meeting.

Inclusion and Retention Policy/Plan/Schedule.
Planning for Gay Games VIII is already underway. A way for your sport to be a
part of future Gay Games would be for players to organize, develop
rules/procedures for competition, have a few events when the organization has
the resources to do so -- and volunteer for the Federation Sports Committee.
Our committee always welcomes new members willing to assist us in promoting
the international growth and quality of the Federation's sports program and
in supporting the Federation Principles of inclusion, participation, respect
and attainment of personal best. If you have further questions concerning
the inclusion of a particular sport in future Gay Games, contact the
Sports Committee with your input.
