The Tom Waddell Award is given to an individual who has demonstrated a history of service in the arts, athletics, or volunteerism that has directly contributed to the success of the Gay Games.

The award focuses attention on the single most important aspect of the Gay Games, that of participation.

The Tom Waddell Award was first presented in 1990 at Vancouver's Gay Games III and continues to be presented every four years at the Gay Games.
